East Coast Hockey and Skating Supplies was born out of a deep love for ice skating and a commitment to excellence. The story of our hockey & skating goods store is a narrative of passion, community, and the relentless pursuit of providing unparalleled service and expertise.
In August 2003, Mike and Kristen Hendrix transformed a moment of uncertainty into an opportunity that has since become a beacon for the skating community. With Mike's rich background in youth hockey coaching and a part-time commitment to helping at the local ice rink, they stepped in to fill a void left by a pro shop/store closure due to a fallout with the rink management. Leveraging Mike's extensive experience in the hockey business and their shared connection with the skating world, they embarked on a journey to create a convenient online store for hockey and skating goods.

Our Founder: Meet Mike Hendrix
Mike Hendrix has been deeply involved in hockey since he first learned to skate at 3 years old. His extensive experience includes playing youth hockey for Howard County Youth Hockey (Howard Huskies) and a notable coaching career with both the Tri-City Eagles and Howard Huskies. Mike also played a pivotal role in establishing the hockey program at River Hill High School. His dedication and skill as a coach were recognized in 2018 when he was honored as the MAPHL Conference Coach of the Year while coaching at DeMatha High School. Mike's lifelong engagement with hockey not only showcases his passion for the sport but also his commitment to contributing positively to the hockey community.
